Why Should You Have a Watermark Logo?

Ó Copyright 2005 Kris Williams

Watermark logos are a slight variation of the original logo, in that they tend to be a faded background image that still display’s the business insignia on a more subtle approach. However, a watermark logo also offers a truly unique design tool for placement on websites, products, graphics, photographs, business cards, stationary, newsletters, advertising, and other visible means whereas a bold in-your-face statement of the company logo is not a acceptable, suitable, and/or permissible.

Watermark logos can also bring in a security measure for protecting certain areas of your business. For instance, a professional way to protect such a specific image from being swiped by internet thieves, is to add in a watermark logo to the background of the image or photograph. A variation of this method is to use the term “sample” over the image, but the watermark logo identifies your business as the creator in the event that the logo is stolen. And in some cases if you time stamp the creation, you can also use this to your advantage in a court situation for proof.

Another reason you should have a watermark logo for your business is that when you have an online website for your company, a watermark logo image can be incorporated into the background of your webpages, so that this logo can be seen as the first image to appear when a page is loading. This can be a crucial element when owning a website in that customers, clients, and readers of your content will come to recognize your watermark logo when identifying any of your content and website. In other words, the more visible your logo is and the more times your logo is seen, the more likely a potential client will remember your company.

Think of Watermark logos like wrapping paper. You want to encompass your business with your company insignia, remaining as visible as possible without over doing it. With a watermark logo that has a lighter shading than the original company logo, you will accomplish this and more. And your watermark logo will be a subtle reminder for the viewer, instilling some added security measures for your product(s), and also affording more opportunities for your company to get noticed! Isn’t it time your business had a watermark logo?
